Summer Storage Tune

Finish the season properly. Start the next one ahead.

When the season wraps up, your skis or snowboard have likely taken a few hits, dulled edges, and dried bases along the way. A Summer Storage Tune resets performance and protects your gear through the off-season so you are not starting from behind next winter.

Instead of putting worn equipment away, this service restores and protects it in one step.

Reset Now. Protected for Next Season.

Our Summer Storage Tune is priced at $70.00 and combines a full performance tune with protective storage wax.

This service includes P-tex repair work where needed, base grind, edge sharpening, and a final storage wax application that remains on the base during the off-season.

Base material, primarily polyethylene often referred to as P-tex, can oxidize and dry out over summer months. Applying storage wax creates a protective barrier to help maintain base condition.

There is no additional charge to scrape the skis or snowboard at the start of next season.

A summer storage tune prepares your equipment for months of rest while ensuring it is structurally refreshed at the same time.

For Riders Wrapping Up a Full Season

This service is ideal for:

  • Skiers/boarders finishing a long winter season

  • Riders who logged frequent days and want a reset

  • Anyone storing gear for several months

  • Skiers/boarders preparing equipment for a summer ski trip

  • Riders who want to start next season with confidence

If your bases show wear, minor scratches, or dryness, this service addresses those issues before storage rather than letting them sit untreated.

It is especially recommended for those who ski hard through spring conditions when snow can be abrasive.

From Season End to Ready for Winter

Step 1 – End of Season Assessment

Bring your skis or snowboard to Mountain Cultures once your season is complete.

We assess base condition, edge wear, and minor damage to determine what P-tex repair work is required before grinding.

Step 2 – Full Tune Restoration

We begin with P-tex repair for minor base damage, followed by a base grind to restore flatness and refresh the running surface.

Edges are sharpened to ensure clean contact and improved control when you return to snow.

This stage resets the structural integrity and performance of your equipment.

Step 3 – Storage Wax Protection

After tuning, a generous layer of hot storage wax is applied and intentionally left on the base.

The wax is not scraped or brushed. It remains in place throughout the summer to protect against oxidation and drying. When winter returns, bring your gear back and we will scrape and brush it at no additional charge.

Tune & Storage Breakdown

  • P-tex repair work for minor base damage

  • Base grind

  • Edge sharpening

  • Hot storage wax application

  • Complimentary scrape and brush next season

This service combines performance restoration with long-term protection.

FAQ

How is a Summer Storage Tune different from a regular tune-up?

A regular tune-up typically finishes with a scraped and brushed wax ready for immediate use. A summer storage tune leaves a protective wax layer on the base for long-term storage.

Why is a Summer Storage Tune recommended at the end of the season?

Addressing base wear and applying storage wax before months of inactivity can help preserve base condition and edge integrity.

How long can gear be stored after receiving this service?

Gear can be stored for the entire off-season. The storage wax remains in place until it is scraped before next season.

What happens if I skip a Summer Storage Tune?

Without protection, bases may dry out or oxidize over time. Edges may also show surface corrosion depending on storage conditions. While not mandatory, storage preparation can help maintain long-term performance.
