Snowboard Major Tune Up

Restore speed. Restore control. Restore confidence.

If your board feels slow on the flats, sketchy on hardpack, or shows the scars of early-season rocks, it’s time for more than a basic wax. Our Snowboard Major Tune Up is a full-performance reset designed to bring your board back to life — fast, sharp, and mountain-ready.

For riders searching for a trusted snowboard tune up Calgary, this is our most comprehensive in-house snowboard service.

A Full Reset for Your Board

The snowboard major tune is designed for riders who demand consistent glide, clean edge hold, and have experienced some base damage.

Priced at $70.00, this service includes base repair, base grinding, precision edge sharpening, and a professional hot wax finish. It addresses structural wear, not just surface maintenance.

If a minor snowboard tune up isn’t enough anymore, this is the service that resets performance from the base up.

For Riders Who Need More Than a Basic Tune

Our service is ideal for:

  • Riders with visible base scratches or damage

  • Snowboarders who’ve hit rocks or early-season debris

  • Anyone whose board feels slow or inconsistent

  • Riders preparing for a trip or competition

  • Frequent riders who put in serious days each season

If your edges feel dull, your base looks dry or uneven, or your board just doesn’t ride the way it used to, a snowboard major tune up is the right move.

It’s especially recommended mid-season after heavy use or at the end of the season before storage.

From Drop-Off to Ride Ready

Step 1 – Pre-Pay & Drop Off

Pre-pay online and select “In Store Pick Up” at checkout. Then bring your board to Mountain Cultures for drop-off.

Simple, efficient, and built around your schedule.

If you have questions call 587-349-1450 and our team will help you out.

Step 2  – Base & Edge Restoration

We start by rebuilding the foundation of your board:

  • Base repair for damaged areas

  • Petex work to fill scratches and defects

  • Base grind to restore flatness and remove inconsistencies

A proper grind ensures your base structure is optimized for glide and control. Uneven or damaged bases create drag and unpredictable tracking — we eliminate that.

Edges are then sharpened for a clean bite and reliable hold on hardpack and variable snow.

Step 3 Performance Finish

We complete the process with a professional hot wax application (iron applied, brushed and textured).

This conditions the base, enhances glide, and protects your board from drying out in cold, abrasive Alberta conditions. The result is a smoother, faster ride that holds speed through transitions and flat sections.

What’s Included in the Service

  • Base repair

  • Petex filling for base defects and scratches

  • Base grind

  • Full edge sharpen

  • Hot wax (iron applied, brushed & textured)

  • Final inspection before pickup

This is a complete snowboard service, not just a quick refresh.

FAQ

How does a major tune up differ from a minor snowboard tune?

A minor snowboard tune up focuses on grinding the base to restore flatness and structure as well as sharpening and waxing.

A major tune up goes further by repairing base damage. It’s a deeper performance reset, not just surface maintenance.

Who should get a snowboard major tune up?

Riders with visible base damage, deep scratches, inconsistent glide, or dull edges benefit most. It’s also ideal after early-season riding, heavy park laps, or before a big mountain trip.

How often should I get a major tune up for my snowboard?

Most riders benefit from one major tune per season.

If you ride frequently or in variable early-season conditions, a mid-season major tune can significantly extend the life and performance of your board.

Does the service include base repair and base grinding?

Yes. The snowboard major tune includes both base repair and base grinding. We repair scratches with Petex and grind the base to restore flatness and optimal structure for glide and control.
